HON: Pollywog Priest

When to pick Pollywog Priest
There is no hero lineup that is poor for the Pollywog Priest, as he is the only hero that has two active, full, guaranteed disables. There is no lane that is poor for the Pollywog Priest, because he makes any lane rawrsome. The Pollywog Priest is a frog for all situations.

Understand Your Place
The Pollywog Priest is close to a pure support. He's not quite Glacius-level support, but he comes quite close. If you're getting enough kills to consider going Sacrificial Heart, GTFO, ur doin it rong. With that said, it doesn't matter all that much in casual games, so go ahead and be creative with how you play. The rest of the guide is going to be separated into three distinct strategies--the Roamer (pure gank), the Laner (farmer and late-game super disabler), and the Asshat (the guy who enjoys putting his fingers into your butt repeatedly).

The Roamer

This is the style of play that is the most well-rounded in that it provides complete-map support. Because you have one of the most ridiculous disables in the game, repeated ganks will absoutely destroy your opponents' morale. Once you are level 5, you should never look back at the lane again. Bon voyage! People will hate you!

Item Build

To start:
The Bottle is your preferred starting item. You should be rune whoring asap, making sure you get most if not all the runes.

Next:
As one of the slowest heroes in the game, Enhanced Marchers are the cheapest, most cost-efficient way to get your ass into the fight. This is preferred to Post Haste, as it provides superior chasing and escaping power.

Now this:
The Stormspirit is your key to victory. Stormspirit an enemy, then drop your Voodoo Wards on top of the cycloned enemy. 99% of the time, he's screwed. You can either wail on him or use your disables on him.

And if you're not doing well, this:
A bit of HP never hurt, especially if you're being targetted.

What? You want to be a REAL team player? Then do this:
You don't actually NEED items to play an effective Pollywog Priest. If team-stacking were allowed, you probably would be done after buying Enhanced Marchers. But since it's not, go ahead and buy a lot of Wards. You're a ganker, and there's no better way to find ganks than these.

Skill Build
1 Magical Bindings 1
2 Electric Jolt 1
3 Electric Jolt 2
4 Morph 1
5 Electric Jolt 3
6 Voodoo Wards 1
7 Electric Jolt 4
8 Morph 2
9 Morph 3
10 Morph 4
11 Voodoo Wards 2
12 Magical Bindings 2
13 Magical Bindings 3
14 Magical Bindings 4
15 Stats 1
16 Voodoo Wards 3

Only one level of Magical Bindings is required for this build, as it does not scale as well as if you'd gotten more levels of Morph. Electric Jolt is your primary, as it does a ton of AoE nuke damage and is great for ganking.

Playguide
Start out by going to a side lane. Check the Powerful Combos section at the end for preferred lanes. Check runes every 2 minutes to refill your Bottle--if you get a good rune, go gank middle to give your solo mid a good head start. In most circumstances, start the gank by using Electric Jolt, then Magical Bindings--never save Electric Jolt for the kill. This way, it'll already be on cooldown, so if he survives the initial barrage you can chase and Jolt him again. In team battles, you'll want to drop wards strategically, making sure you don't block or trap allies. Try to cyclone their carry, ward him, then focus on disabling their priority heroes like DPS and casters.

The Laner

The laner is most suited for casual play. He is still support, but has a bit of carry in him. He requires solo mid, no ganking, and relies purely on creepkilling skill. This obviously won't work against coordinated teams. You know you're a successful laner if your team complains about you not helping, then you come out with Totem of Kuldra and Storm Spirit by 30 min.

Item Build

To start:
You'll want items to help you persevere in your lane. Spend all your starting gold on this sort of stuff.

Next:
Hell yeah, straight ballin'. You should have this item by 22 min MAX.

Wat, wrong order? NO:
Now that you've got dat, you can get dis.

Now you can finally start moving around:
"omg he doesnt even have boots yet wat a noob"

Skill Build
1 Electric Jolt 1
2 Stats 1
3 Stats 2
4 Magical Bindings 1
5 Stats 3
6 Voodoo Wards 1
7 Stats 4
8 Electric Jolt 2
9 Electric Jolt 3
10 Electric Jolt 4
11 Voodoo Wards 2
12 Morph 1
13 Morph 2
14 Morph 3
15 Morph 4
16 Voodoo Wards 3

You'll want to maximize your creep killing power and COMPLETLY IGNORE your natural role of harassment/gank. Level 1 Jolt is more than enough to make sure you'll never get denied. Your attack animation isn't bad either. You still want to get a level of Magical Bindings in case your opponent has falus envy and wants to chase you into tower or something.

Playguide
Sit in lane and farm, farm, farm. Once you've got your items, go murderkill with your retarded FOUR DISABLES. If you ever find that you're getting outlaned completely, abandon the strategy, or go check out the Misc Tips section.

The Asshat
The asshat is basically a babysitter, but babysitters are supposed to be hot. Basically, you lane with a DPS/late gamer, and just be his bitch for a long time.

Item Build

To start:
You want a lot of consumables. Your entire time laning will be spent harassing, disabling, and denying. You will need HP and mana.

Next: Once the laning phase is over, you want to transition into a Roamer, including his item build.

Skill Build
1 Magical Bindings 1
2 Electric Jolt 1
3 Electric Jolt 2
4 Morph 1
5 Electric Jolt 3
6 Voodoo Wards 1
7 Electric Jolt 4
8 Morph 2
9 Morph 3
10 Morph 4
11 Voodoo Wards 2
12 Magical Bindings 2
13 Magical Bindings 3
14 Magical Bindings 4
15 Stats 1
16 Voodoo Wards 3

It's identical to the Roamer's skill build. You will sometimes see a player go Binding/Morph--this is HIGHLY discouraged, as it's not only ridiculously boring, but it makes it IMPOSSIBLE to farm and level whatsoever.

Playguide
Keep yourself in an offensive position. Your opponents will be deathly afraid of you. Don't bother will creep kills, except for denies. If they come close, Bind for your lanemate to bash on. Harass them once in a while with your normal attack--this will draw creep aggro, which is where all the consumables come in. Once you're level 3, spam Jolt to wear down their HP and force them to heal. Basically, be a douche. The main difference between this and the Roamer is that you'll be spending 100% of your early-game effort playing babysitter for a hero like Chronos or Madman. You should always ping before you engage--even better, use voice communication--this way, your lane mate is ready to own it up with his DPS. You should continue to play babysitter until your lane mate is either alright alone or your other teammates are in desperate need for a gank. Most important is that you should NEVER attempt to get last-hits on heroes--all kills should be fed to your mate. If you have more kills than assists, YOU FAIL.

Top Tier Lane Mates
Swiftblade
You Bind, he Blade Frenzy. Nearly guaranteed kill at from LVL1 and onwards.

Voodoo Jester
You Bind, he Cursed Ground, you Electric Jolt. At LVL3, it's a good chance to kill. At LVL5, it's nearly guaranteed.

Jereziah
You Bind, he beats and Inner Light, you Electric Jolt. At LVL5, it's a guaranteed kill on most low-mid HP heroes.

Pebbles
You Bind, he Stalagmite and Chuck, you Electric Jolt. At LVL3, great chance to kill. Unfortunately, Pebbles is somewhat bugged right now.

Pharoah
You Bind, he beats and Hellfire and Wall of Mummies. At LVL 3, great chance to kill.

It's quite difficult to compile a full list of great lane mates, because Bind is such a strong skill. Basically, any hero that requires a guaranteed disable to deal damage, like Torturer or Pyromancer, will work.

Using Stormspirit
It's advised to assign easily remembered hotkeys to all your items. Stormspirit is an item that's literally custom-tailored for you, as it's more or less a guaranteed kill every 80 seconds when used in combination with Voodoo Wards. Quite simply, use it on an enemy, then before its duration is over, place Voodoo Wards on the guy. When the cyclone is over, he should be sitting in the middle of wards. To keep him from escaping, use Bind and Morph on him, then finish him off with a Jolt.

Neutral Farming
A someone less productive way to use your wards is to farm the most powerful neutrals with them. While this diminishes your ganking ability, it does provide you with a guaranteed 600 gold every 2 minutes. Simply go to one of the super neutral camps around :53, draw their aggro, and run away. They will chase you quite far. So as long as they're not sitting at home at :00, a new camp will spawn, and you've just double-pulled. Now drop your wards and dance around, tanking a bit, but allowing your wards to kill the neutrals. You should avoid trapping them--if they're trapped, they'll kill your wards. You can do this at LVL6, giving you a huge boost in XP, but it's easiest to do at LVL11.

Killing Kongor

With only an hero or two, you can easily kill Kongor at LVL11, though it's also possible at LVL6 with a good tank and DPS. Simply drop your wards without trapping him--he will aggro to you instead of the wards, and the wards will drop his HP quickly.

Pushing

Wards are one of the best pushing tools. You should always place them on high ground when base-pushing so they don't miss. In general, when pushing a tower+barracks, you should place the wards such that they're between the tower and the barracks--this way, they can finish off the tower, and remain useful by being in range of the barracks. Never drop them if there are no creeps nearby--it's a huge waste if the tower kills off your wards. Rather, drop then when the tower is focused on something else--be it creeps or an allied tank.

Defensive Play

If ever you find yourself in trouble, dance around some trees and throw down your disables. If you have Stormspirit, it's an excellent way to get away, as is Morph. Some players like to drop wards the second they're in trouble--don't do this. Gauge the situation first--do you have any chance of surviving? Are there allies near? If you're going to die anyway, and wards aren't going to do anything, don't drop them. Each ward gives 30-40 gold, and you'd be doing the entire team a disservice by feeding them, as they're quite weak.

Target Your Wards

You can control them. After you drop your Wards and disables, dublu click one to select all of them. Make sure they focus the guy you want to kill. The last thing you want is for heroes to get away because your wards were too busy hitting that full-HP tank or a bunch of creeps.
